I chose to shorten my career to care for my Mum in her home. She had mixed dementia. Consequently “living well with dementia” was so important to me, and that is why I love our Group.
I feel we have found the magic of providing a place for others like my Mum to go to enjoy happy times with their loved ones which is so very special. I also trained to deliver workshops “Dementia Friends” and took over 500 people through the workshop both the general public and local businesses.

My Mum had vascular dementia, I always remembered how happy and relaxed she was when music was playing.
I attended a Dementia Friends workshop some time ago which gave me an additional insight into living with Dementia.
With my NHS background and personal experience I wanted to make a difference.

Leading the Lytham sing-along group is such a joy and privilege and is a highlight of my week. It's such a delight to meet and get to know this wonderful group of people and build relationships with those with dementia, their carers and family members.
I love seeing group members come alive as we warm-up together and move on to fond favourites or learning new songs together. It's been such a blessing working with the wonderful team of volunteers each week and learning and growing together with them.

Our team are amazing!
We couldn't run this group without our amazing volunteers. They are the heart and soul of everything we do, bringing a passion, dedication, and selflessness which makes a lasting impact on our community.
From a welcoming smile on arrival, serving the refreshments, being on hand to help and answer any questions, and of course tidying up at the end - we're so grateful for their time and energy!
